About Antonio Marcotullio

Antonio Marcotullio, born in 1967, is an Italian composer. His repertoire includes music from a range of genres. Over the years, he has composed music for soundtracks and stage. Many of his compositions, both chamber and symphonic, have been performed by renowned ensembles.

What impresses me most in Antonio Marcotullio's music, said Francesco Zimei, is its particular adherence to the emotional value, a quality that is becoming increasingly rare, not to say inconvenient, in the artistic paths of our times. His style draws, without prejudices, recognitions or declared stylistic belongings, from old and modern experiences, consolidated by an inner coherence and leading to great expressive results.

About Concerto en Passacaille

It is a composition for symphony orchestra based on the development of a thematic cell exposed at the beginning of the song, from which comes the term "Passacaille" in the title. The initial thematic element is accompanied by other recurring elements that often act as a glue between the various sections. The language from which the work draws is the result of a synthesis of various compositional experiences accrued over the years and collected for the first time in an unique architecture, conceived directly in the score without using intermediate steps.
